You’ve arrived at the website for my debut picture book, The NeverEnd Friend.
The story is inspired by my son who was deeply attached to his stuffed animal, Giraffey. He took Giraffey everywhere he went. Occasionally, Giraffey would go missing and the world would collapse into chaos … until Giraffey was miraculously returned by the universe and all at once, life was delightful again.
I had the idea of The NeverEnd Friend one night when Giraffey was lost and my son couldn’t sleep. I wanted him to understand they were still together — that love endures distance. And so, I imagined a story of a boy on an adventure to recover his best friend. The boy undergoes a journey of individuation in which he develops self-confidence and the ability to feel empathy, and discovers that no matter how far apart he and his best friend may be, they will always be together.

The Story
THE NEVEREND FRIEND is written by Sapana Grossi

Achille and his teddy bear, Benji, are heroic adventurers and best friends. But one night, Benji is lost, and Achille feels helpless: he cannot battle on his own or even go to bed. When he learns that Benji is on top of the monstrous Mount NeverEnd, Achille embarks on a difficult journey to recover him. He braves the steep slopes, outsmarts a horrible ogre, and travels through a wondrous forest… until finally, he finds Benji. After an enchanting celebration, Achille is ready to return home. But when Benji wants to stay on Mount NeverEnd, Achille performs his most courageous and selfless act of all.
Detailed illustrations create a richly imagined world in this poignant story about courage, confidence, and true friendship.
